Electrify Nelson

Electrify Nelson is a volunteer-run community group driven by locals for locals, making it easier for the people of Whakatū to electrify their lives.
As part of Rewiring Aotearoa's national network of Electric Communities, our mission is simple: to help our neighbours save money, cut emissions, and build a more resilient community by making the switch to efficient electric appliances, vehicles, and adding solar and battery.
We share practical advice, run local events, and support each other on the journey to an all-electric future. Whether you're a homeowner, farmer, or business owner, we invite you to connect with us, learn more, and help make Nelson more electric!

Learn how you can too – saving money and emissions.
In this Electrify Everything discussion event you’ll meet others in your community who’ve made their lives more fossil fuel free. When we come together and share knowledge, we all learn and get more powerful.
How electric are our homes really?
Our lights, dishwashers and ovens are mostly electric, but lots of households burn fossil fuels for water heating, space heating, driving, working outdoors and cooking.
When we electrify everything in our home, we replace some or all of these fossil fuel machines, over time, with much more efficient electric equivalents. Come and talk with local community members who have chosen to use more electric machines in their lives, saving money and emissions, future proofing their homes and businesses.
