A Federated Farmers’ survey of 1,000 farmers showed that 70% of respondents would consider installing solar panels and the enthusiasm was evenly spread across different age groups, genders and farm types. The economic drivers are clear and farms can significantly reduce their electricity costs with solar (and, if they invest in electric machines, their diesel costs), but there are plenty of unnecessary barriers stopping them from saving money, reducing emissions and playing a role in the energy system.
