There is an alternative to farms being turned into solar farms: "Rewiring Aotearoa chief executive Mike Casey says New Zealand needs to double its energy production in the coming years, and the easiest way to avoid construction of large-scale solar farms is to install solar systems on farms, in businesses and homes. Just 4% of New Zealand homes have solar, compared to nearly 40% in Australia, which Casey says is why the wholesale electricity price collapses in the middle of the day when energy production is at its maximum."
