Labour has matched and extended National’s solar finance policy, promising subsidies for low- and middle-income households as well as low-interest loans for solar panels, batteries and other home energy upgrades. The party’s SolarSaver policy would create two Government-backed finance options, provide kickstart subsidies of up to $3,000 for low- and middle-income households, allow plug-in solar systems for renters and establish a $30 million community battery fund.
